SCOWIB EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MINUTES OF MEETING TUESDAY JANUARY 8, 2008 FIRE MOUNTAIN RESTAURANT 2012 NW CACHE ROAD, LAWTON, OK IN ATTENDANCE ABSENT STAFF Al Allee Bill Cunningham Ray Friedl Jeff Simpson Susan Stoll Lisa Thomas Jerry Martin Chris Pittman Walt Lentz The meeting was called to order at 12:20pm. The committee members discussed ways to increase Director attendance at regular WIB meetings. Before the next Executive Committee meeting staff will contact those directors who have not attended a SCOWIB meeting since 06/14/07, and establish their interest in continuing on the board. Ray Friedl updated the committee members on the status of the out-of-area recruiting issue. The committee headed by the Lawton Chamber of Commerce has had its first meeting, but have not progressed very far. Ray Friedl updated the committee members on the status of Soft Skills Training and Credentialing issue. Pat Beck, Sue Brown, and Rodney Palesano agree that the concept is great, but that we don’t really have the assessments that do what employers need assessed. This needs to go back to Susan’s committee for further review. Ray Friedl discussed the need for a Supportive Services Policy. Everything we pay is based on the customer’s unmet need. He asked the Executive Committee to consider establishing a 60-day limit for supportive services after a customer completes training or quits training. Jeff Simpson and Chris Pittman agree this is reasonable. The committee members decided to table Discussion Topics for March Meeting until next month. The next regular meeting of the Executive Committee will be February 11, 2008 at 11:30 am at Fire Mountain Restaurant in Lawton. Meeting was adjourned at 1:10pm.
