The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Training Services available in the South Central Oklahoma Workforce Investment Area are targeted towards training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, and certifications or licensures necessary to satisfy the requirements of this area’s demand occupations. For people seeking training services, the process begins with an objective assessment that provides insights into a person’s occupational interests, provides information on the person’s ability to undertake a specific program of training, and demonstrates that a person’s interests and educational-level are consistent with the requirements of the area’s demand occupations. Training services accomplish two goals: 1) Provide a person with the knowledge, skills, abilities, and certifications or licensures required to be qualified for entry into an area demand occupation; and, 2) Provide a qualified and capable workforce for area businesses. Training services provide: · Assistance with paying legitimate un-met needs for tuition, books, and fee associated with a training or educational program leading to employment in an area designated demand occupation · WIA Case Management while a person is participating in a fully or partially WIA funded program of training or education · Eligible participants with vouchers for up to two years of training and not to exceed $4000 (Actual time length of the voucher and amount paid is determined by the length of the program of training) · Note: Eligibility requirements and demand occupations are a determinant in selecting people to receive training services Additional information can be obtained by calling an ASCOG representative in one of the area’s Workforce Oklahoma Centers: Chickasha Phone: 405.224.6792 Duncan Phone: 580.252.8159 Ft.
