She is a multi-tasker, full of energy and finds the positives in every work situation. She has become the “computer trainer” of ASCOG. Peggy makes her home in Duncan with her husband and three children. Peggy was previously employed with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) in the Adult Protection Services Division. Choices Are Now Available Regarding Health Plans: If Older Americans feel like they were confused or misled about switching from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage or Part D prescription drug plan, you now have an opportunity to switch back to Original Medicare or another plan, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS) announced. If you think you might want to change or need additional information call 1-800-633-4227 to talk with a CMS customer service representative. Case Managers will also be available to discuss with you the possible ramifications of any policy changes. Alzheimer’s Association sponsors SAFE RETURN: A nationwide identification system has been developed for people with Alzheimer’s disease who have the potential to become lost. Families and caregivers can enroll a loved one in the program for an enrollment fee of $20.00 with an annual $20.00 administrative fee. The individual receives an identification bracelet with pertinent information to help reunite them with family or caregivers. The information is put into a secure nationwide database that is in operation twenty four (24) hours a day. To enroll or receive additional information about the Safe Return program call 888-572-8566 or go on line to www.alz.org/safereturn. ASCOG Holiday: ASCOG will close Monday, Sept. 3rd in observance of the Labor Day Holiday. The offices will open at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4. Workforce Development Division Staffing: The division is in the process of interviewing for three vacant positions—Deputy Director, Compliance Monitor, and Management Information Specialist. Expect to bring these people on board in mid-September. U.S. Department of Labor Meeting on Special Grant Scheduled: Oklahoma Department of Commerce, ASCOG and other regional partners will be meeting with U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) to finalize plans for a $2.5 Million grant award. The grant will be for services to service members separating from Ft. Sill and spouses impacted by Base Realignment and Closure decisions. USDOL will be reviewing our plans on September 13 and implementation will commence shortly following the meeting. NIMS: Requirement completion should be in full swing at this time. Forestry Grants: 80/20 grants through Forestry have been completed and will be processed for department notification around Nov. 1, ’07. Vehicle grants are being sent in with the Sept. 14, ’07 deadline. Departments that have submitted an application will be notified of the award during the first part of October. |
