Brownfields: Buildings are sometimes offered to communities at little or no cost. Before accepting any building, be sure to contact ASCOG to schedule an inspection for potential hazardous materials such as lead paint, asbestos, etc. Should the building change hands and the inspection has not been performed, any cleanup of the hazardous material would not be eligible for brownfields assistance.
