Workforce Investment Act Intensive Services are available to people who need assistance to obtain or retain employment in a high demand occupation. Individuals must be referred by a workforce center partner to an ASCOG Workforce Development Division staff member. The referral is based on a person’s ability, experience, or training to reasonably perform the requirements of a high demand occupation and meeting Workforce Investment Act eligibility requirements. Expanded or intensive services begins with the process of assignment of a Workforce Investment Act Case Manager, completion and interpretation of a comprehensive objective assessment, joint development of an Individual Employment Plan to include identification of a career goal and the steps necessary to achieve the goal, and an individual budget analysis. The goal of intensive services is to develop or refer qualified, committed, and dedicated employees for area businesses. The services that a person accepted into the intensive services phase of Workforce Investment Act services may receive are: · Temporary, short-term Transportation Assistance to and from work or school that is not available from other sources and is necessary for a person to obtain or retain employment or participate in a program of training · Temporary, short-term child care that allows a person to work or go to school that is not available from other sources and is necessary for a person to obtain or retain employment or participate in a program of training · Temporary, short-term assistance with other living needs that is not available from other sources and is necessary to allow a person to hold a job or participate in a program of training · Assistance with the purchase of tools, equipment, or clothing that is not available from other sources and is necessary to obtain or retain employment or participate in a program of training · Short-term On-the-Job Training Programs and Job Development that benefit both the business and person receiving intensive services · Short-term training programs that provide the skills and abilities necessary to obtain and retain employment in a high demand industry cluster · Work Experience Programs and Job Development that benefit both the business and person receiving intensive services · Case Management and Counseling provided throughout the period that a person is receiving Intensive Services · Follow-up counseling services to the person for one year following the completion of WIA Intensive Services.
