    2016 SENIOR FRAUD CONFERENCE

    Norman OK, July 27, 2016– Attention:  There is a Senior Fraud Conference coming to your area.  It will benefit the cities of Anadarko, Cyril, Elgin, Lawton, Chickasha, Marlow, Duncan, Walters, Elmore City, Comanche, Waurika and the surrounding areas.  It will be at the Embassy Suites in Norman.  Registration begins at 7:30 A.M. and they will be serving breakfast.  The conference is from 8:30 A.M. to 12:15 P.M.  This is a free event and it will cover Medicare Fraud, Insurance Fraud and Investment and Banking Fraud.  I look forward to seeing the Southwest areas of Oklahoma well represented.     ASCOG AAA Request for Information for Title III Nutrition Site Community Support The Association of South Central Oklahoma Government (ASCOG) Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is asking our local communities where Title III Senior Nutrition Sites are located to respond to the following request for information (RFI). The RFI response is due no later than July 15 in order to include your community data in the next nutrition project request for proposals (RFP).

    Senior Center Grants Announced for SFY17

    Applications for the Community Expansion Nutrition Assistance (CENA) Grants for funding independent (non-Title III) senior centers are available online at ASCOG.org.  Applications are due July 15, 2016. The Association of South Central Oklahoma Governments is announcing the availability of applications for those independent senior centers serving meals at least three times per week. Up to four (4) competitive, $20,000 grants will be awarded for Title III Nutrition sites who are not currently scheduled to close or go independent and who will agree to voluntarily leave the Title III program effective October 1, 2016.  Remaining funds will be put in a pool for all other eligible applicants.     Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program 2016

    The Association of South Central Oklahoma Governments (ASCOG) has applications available for the Seniors Farmers Market Nutrition Program. Seniors, 60 years of age and older, can request an application through the Information and Assistance specialist, Bethany Sullivan. The applications are limited and will be mailed out on a first-come, first served basis.     Funding Still Available through the Masonic Charities Foundation

      The Association of South Central Oklahoma Governments (ASCOG) is currently accepting applications for assistance in Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Grady, Jefferson, McClain, Stephens, and Tillman counties.  The Masonic Grant Assistance Program offers services to people such as, home repairs, wheel chair ramp construction, and handicap modifications to homes. Other Services offered are, chore services, emergency medication, durable medical equipment and dental services.

    The Department of Justice announced the launch of 10 regional Elder Justice Task Forces.     How we can generate awareness and foster action to end elder abuse – one person at a time. Every year an estimated 5 million, or 1 in 10, older Americans are victims of elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation. And that’s only part of the picture: Experts believe that for every case of elder abuse or neglect reported, as many as 23.5 cases go unreported.
